Itinerary Intro
Love Prairie, situated along the Alishan Highway in Chiayi's Fanlu Township, is an enchanting grassland art park created by Pineapple Hill. This free-entry venue is designed as a romantic photo playground, featuring art installations such as a giant red heart sculpture, love-themed murals, a whimsical castle, a piano-themed café, wisteria tunnel walkways, and oversized “magic books.” Visitors can enjoy free pineapple cake samples while soaking up the magical atmosphere—an ideal stop for couples, families, and photography lovers.

Fenqihu Old Street is set in a mountainous town of Chiayi, about 1,405 meters above sea level, and features a historic stone-paved walkway lined with old wooden shops, lunchbox vendors, and teahouses—it feels like stepping back in time. Originally a pre-railway settlement, the area evolved into a key stop on the Alishan Forest Railway. Today, it’s celebrated for its nostalgic ambiance, iconic lunchboxes, and cultural charm.

Danaiko Suspension Bridge, located within the Danaiko Natural Ecological Park in Alishan Township, is a serene escape known as the "Valley of No Regrets." The bridge spans 228 meters and rises 30 meters above the converging streams below. A scenic 20-minute walk from the park entrance brings you to this majestic suspension bridge. Visitors are rewarded with panoramic views of clear mountain streams, forested cliffs, and the valley carved over eons. The area also features indigenous cultural performances, a farmer’s market, and traditional tribal cuisine—perfect for combining nature with cultural immersion.

Set in Chiayi’s Alishan Township at approximately 2,200 meters above sea level and covering 1,400 hectares, the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area is one of Taiwan’s most iconic nature destinations. It is famed for the “Five Wonders”: the forest railway, ancient sacred trees, sea of clouds, sunrise vistas, and evening glow—alongside cherry blossoms, rhododendrons, and rich cultural heritage.

Alishan’s Giant Tree Boardwalk Trails offer a serene forest promenade through towering cypress giants on an elevated wooden boardwalk. Spanning just over 1 km combined, the trails feature about 36 ancient cypress trees—some over 30 meters tall and centuries old. Key highlights include the majestic “Tree No. 28,” the misty “Shenyi Waterfall,” and the historic Shenmu Train Station—a peaceful, nature-immersive stroll suitable for all ages.

Eryanping Trail, located along Highway 18 near the 52.8 km mark in Chiayi’s Alishan region, begins at around 1,200 m and ascends to 1,450 m. This former mountain pass trail blends tea plantations, bamboo forests, granite outcrops, and sweeping views of tea fields and cloud seas. It is renowned for its dramatic sunsets and misty landscapes—making it a serene and accessible hike ideal for both casual walkers and photographers.

Hidden in the forested hills of Alishan, Ajang’s Home 23 Coffee is an artistic stone-cottage retreat built by its owners over decades. It evokes a Miyazaki-style fairy village nestled among lush tea plantations. Visitors can escape the hustle, sipping locally roasted coffee or floral teas while indulging in handmade rice waffles or the whimsical “Taste of Love” dessert. Free-roaming cats and panoramic mountain views complete this peaceful hideaway.
