Itinerary Intro

Just steps from Shifen Train Station, Shifen Old Street is a charming lane where railway tracks run through the middle of bustling shops. Visitors often stop to release sky lanterns with their wishes written atop — a defining experience of “Pingxi sky lantern culture.” The street is also packed with classic Taiwanese snacks like grilled sausage, taro balls, and sweet sesame tea. A key attraction on the Pingxi line, it blends heritage, food, and photographer-worthy railway views into an unforgettable stop

Shifen Waterfall, located in Pingxi District, New Taipei, is Taiwan’s largest curtain-type waterfall — spanning roughly 40 meters in width and 20 meters in height — earning it the nickname “Taiwan’s Niagara Falls.” A scenic 15–20 minute walk from Shifen Station takes visitors through old streets, suspension bridges, and forested trails to viewing platforms. Surrounded by lush greenery, the waterfall often produces misty rainbows when hit by sunlight. Easily accessible and highly photogenic, it’s one of the most popular “waterfall attractions in northern Taiwan.”

Jiufen Old Street is a historic hillside town with Japanese-era architecture, red lanterns, and narrow cobbled alleys lined with food stalls and teahouses. It’s a top “Taiwan old-town experience,” especially magical at dusk when the lanterns light up the night.

Surrounding Dianji Temple, Keelung Miaokou Night Market is a premier food destination in northern Taiwan. The L-shaped market spans around 400 meters along Rensan and Aisi Roads, opening from approximately 5 PM until midnight. Specialties include oyster omelets, tempura (tianbu-la), pot-edge noodles (ding bian cuo), one‑bite sausages, and the iconic “nutritious sandwich” — made famous right here in Keelung . With its fresh seafood offerings and lively street atmosphere, it’s a top choice for travelers seeking an authentic Taiwanese night market experience.
