Itinerary Intro

jiufen-shifen-caishen-temple-private-tour

Jiufen Old Street is a historic hillside town with Japanese-era architecture, red lanterns, and narrow cobbled alleys lined with food stalls and teahouses. It’s a top “Taiwan old-town experience,” especially magical at dusk when the lanterns light up the night.

Walking through Shiding Old Street feels like stepping back into Taiwan’s mining heyday. The stone-paved lane is lined with century-old shops offering handmade rice dumplings, traditional tofu pudding, and local mochi. Creative alleyways like the “No‑Sky Alley” and stilted houses blend heritage architecture with local ingenuity. It’s a perfect stop for “North Taipei cultural exploration” and “rustic food-tasting itinerary.”

The Maokong Gondola transports visitors from Taipei Zoo up to the mountain tea village of Maokong via Zhinan Temple, covering approximately 4.03 km in 20–30 minutes. Along the ride, you’ll pass through lush forest, sweeping valley views, and glimpses of downtown Taipei — iconic for “Taipei cable car rides” and scenic elevation changes. Opting for a Crystal Cabin provides a fully transparent floor experience. Once at Maokong Station, visitors can explore hillside teahouses, sip premium Tieguanyin tea, or visit Zhinan Temple for cultural sightseeing — ideal for families, tea lovers, and photographers.

Nestled in Taipei’s Wenshan District, the Maokong Tea Gardens feature rolling hills carpeted in tea terraces famous for Wenshan Baozhong and Tieguanyin teas. Visitors can stroll scenic walking trails, visit traditional teahouses for tasting sessions, and enjoy panoramic views of Taipei below — especially magical at dusk when tea houses light up. A perfect blend of “tea culture,” “hillside nature walks,” and “cityscape viewing,” Maokong is a top escape spot near Taipei.

Maokong is home to a collection of tea-based restaurants offering scenic views, creative dishes with tea flavors, and relaxing atmospheres. Highlights include “Si Ge Tea House,” “Spring Tea Village,” “Yao Yue Tea House,” “Qingquan Shan Zhuang,” “Light Feather Salt,” and “Xiang Feng Ju.” Dishes often feature tea油麵線, tea-infused chicken, tea fried rice, and local desserts, making it perfect for a “tea dining experience with panoramic Taipei views” in the mountains above the city.
