Don’t rush home after visiting Jiufen Old Street! This private day tour departs from the mountain town and follows the scenic Northeast Coastal Highway eastward. First stop: the legendary birthplace of the famous “Fulong Railway Bento,” where the iconic lunchbox meal pairs perfectly with views of the beach and ocean—nothing says summer in Taiwan better than this.
Next, head to the coastal town of Toucheng to admire the sights of Wushih Harbor and Daxi Fishing Village. You can also choose to explore the Lanyang Museum for a glimpse into Yilan’s rich cultural heritage.
In the afternoon, relax in the outdoor hot springs of Jiaoxi, then swing by Yisun Bakery to grab their best-selling milk pudding rolls and local treats—a sweet way to end the day.
While the standard plan includes drop-off at your hotel, you can always ask the driver on-site if they’re willing to extend the ride—whether it’s a detour to grab a pepper bun at Raohe Night Market or a late-night snack stop. A small overtime fee might apply, but trust us, it’s usually worth it!

Itinerary Intro
Jiufen Old Street:
Stretching uphill along the mountainside, Jiufen Old Street is a narrow alleyway packed with a wide variety of shops. The enticing aroma of traditional street foods fills the air—must-try local treats include taro balls, meatballs, and grass rice cakes. You'll also find charming antiques and uniquely Taiwanese souvenirs, offering endless shopping delights. Wander through the winding alleyways and hidden corners of Jiufen to explore the town's charm from every angle.

Fulong Beach, located in Gongliao District of New Taipei City, is renowned for its long stretch of golden sand and unique river–ocean confluence. It’s one of northern Taiwan’s top seaside destinations, offering swimming, sunbathing, SUP, canoeing, and windsurfing. Every summer, the beach hosts the Fulong International Sand Sculpture Festival and Gongliao Ocean Music Festival, making it one of Taiwan’s most vibrant coastal event venues. The iconic Rainbow Bridge and beachfront scenery are perfect for memorable photos.

The Lanyang Museum in Toucheng, Yilan, was designed with the iconic cuesta-like coastal landform in mind — its angular structure appears to rise directly from the wetlands. Set beside Wushi Harbor and freshwater ponds, the museum brings together nature and culture with exhibitions themed across Mountain, Plain, Sea, and Time Corridor. Visitors of all ages enjoy the museum’s glass skywalk and interactive kids’ archaeology pit, making this one of the top “family-friendly museums in northern Taiwan.” On clear days, the building and its reflection create a striking photographic scene and is a popular “Instagrammable museum destination.

Wushi Harbor in Toucheng, Yilan was once the region’s primary seaport during early settlement days, named after the three distinctive black rocks in the harbor. Today, the old harbor area has been restored as a wetland conservation zone, while the new harbor functions as a bustling tourist fishery port. Visitors can sample fresh seafood at the harbor’s direct-sale market, take whale-watching boat tours, or stroll the seafront soaking in classic harbor views. A perfect mix of “Toucheng harbor culture” and “Yilan coastal adventure.

Jiaoxi Hot Springs, located in Yilan County, is one of Taiwan’s rare flatland hot spring areas. Its sodium bicarbonate-rich alkaline water is known to soften skin—earning it the nickname “Beauty Spring”. Visitors can enjoy free foot soaking and natural forest baths at Jiaoxi Hot Spring Park or Tangweigou Hot Spring Park, both within walking distance of the train station. This makes it a top choice for a “Jiaoxi day trip with wellness and local food” experience.

Yisun Bakery is one of Yilan’s most beloved souvenir shops, best known for its chilled cream rolls — soft sponge cake filled with rich, creamy custard. Other popular items include salted egg yolk pastries, mung bean cakes, and traditional Yilan-style cookies. With branches in Yilan City, Luodong, and Jiaoxi, it’s a convenient and tasty stop before heading home.
