Itinerary Intro

The Lanyang Museum in Toucheng, Yilan, was designed with the iconic cuesta-like coastal landform in mind — its angular structure appears to rise directly from the wetlands. Set beside Wushi Harbor and freshwater ponds, the museum brings together nature and culture with exhibitions themed across Mountain, Plain, Sea, and Time Corridor. Visitors of all ages enjoy the museum’s glass skywalk and interactive kids’ archaeology pit, making this one of the top “family-friendly museums in northern Taiwan.” On clear days, the building and its reflection create a striking photographic scene and is a popular “Instagrammable museum destination.”

Set along the Dongshan River in Wujie, Yilan, the National Center for Traditional Arts spans 24 hectares and recreates a mid-20th-century Taiwanese village. Featuring traditional streets (Luban, Wenchang, Linshui), temples, performance stages, and cultural exhibitions, it also hosts live folk performances, puppet shows, and hands-on DIY workshops such as puppet-making, dyeing, and traditional toys. This makes it a perfect destination for families and culture-loving travelers seeking an immersive experience in Taiwan’s intangible heritage.

Jiaoxi Hot Springs, located in Yilan County, is one of Taiwan’s rare flatland hot spring areas. Its sodium bicarbonate-rich alkaline water is known to soften skin—earning it the nickname “Beauty Spring”. Visitors can enjoy free foot soaking and natural forest baths at Jiaoxi Hot Spring Park or Tangweigou Hot Spring Park, both within walking distance of the train station. This makes it a top choice for a “Jiaoxi day trip with wellness and local food” experience.
